Hurt

I have always loved the song Hurt which at first I thought was by Johnny Cash. It was actually originally written by Trent Reznor from Nine Inch Nails. The raw emotion Trent sings it with is incredible. Have a listen

I love Johnny Cash’s version. It was one of his final hit releases before he died in 2003.

This video was directed by Mark Romanek. It was named the best video of the year by the Grammy Awards and CMA Awards, and the best video of all time by NME in July 2011.

Today I somehow stumbled upon another cover by Francisca Valenzuela. I fell in love with the song all over again and it’s nice to hear it with a woman’s touch.
