Half Marathon!

19 May

Today I ran my first half marathon!! The Half marathon was in Brooklyn beginning at Prospect Park and ending at Coney Island. At about mile 8 my knee really started hurting which was odd because I haven’t had any knee troubles through out my training until today, but I powered through. The last 5 miles were quite painful but I still managed to hit my target time. Check out the summary of my results.

Ideally I would have loved to maintain an 8 minute mile but I am happy with the 8:10. When I first began training my goal was any time below 2 hours and I more than reached that limit so I am quite happy.

My friend Nate and I kept up with each other the whole race. Thumbs up for finishing!

I also made random friends with some old guys who were speaking spanish. Turns out they beat my time by about 15 minutes and were easily 25 years older than me.

It was awesome to be able o hang out on the beach after the race. Such a relaxing way to unwind. Unfortunately for me, I haven’t been able to walk/bend my knee without excruciating pain. I have been icing and wrapping all day. Hopefully the pain and swelling subside soon and I can continue running.
