Friday Morning Traditions

5 Jul

Since the past few weeks at TFA Institute (aka intense teacher training) have been incredibly demanding with long days, early mornings and minimum sleep, my roommate Ellie and I have come up with a Friday morning pump up routine so we get through the last  work intensive day of the week. That doesn’t mean that the weekends are very relaxing but at least we don’t have to be up at 5am.

So Friday’s we wake up and blast Rebecca Black’s Friday just for the LOL’s

Monday is my first day of teaching high school algebra and I don’t think I have ever been this nervous. Today I had to get up in front of a group of about 15 of my peers and demo 5 minutes of my lesson. I was a nervous wreck the entire day leading up to the demo. I did alright but I definitely have a lot to work on so my lesson flows smoothly. I am teaching how to convert English phrases into algebraic expressions. One of the things we do as a team is give each other feedback in the form of “Glow and Grow” meaning what part in which part of our lesson did we glow, and which parts we have room to grow. I put up my feedback post it’s next to my bed as a reminder. I know, totally nerdy, but I have too keep motivated!!!
